At King’s University, you’ll find a community of students who are more than just dedicated scholars—they’re athletes, ethical changemakers, and future business leaders, all striving for excellence. Whether they're competing in varsity sports, making a difference in their communities, or pursuing exciting business careers, our students are driven to create a lasting impact. Here, you'll be part of a group that encourages personal growth, fosters academic success, and empowers you to lead with passion, integrity, and purpose.

Athletes by Western, Scholars by King’s

It takes dedication to be a varsity athlete, and we support you to achieve excellence. Our flexible approach to scheduling and academic support ensures that you can pursue your athletic dreams while receiving a top-tier education. Over 150 athletes from Western choose King’s each year. Learn more about Athletics at King's.

Treye Trotman

A standout wrestler for the Western Mustangs, Treye Trotman has claimed consecutive top titles at the Ontario University Athletics (OUA) championships and earned gold medals at the U SPORTS national championships. Over the past two years, the BMOS student, with honours specialization in Finance and Administration, has maintained an undefeated record, securing his spot as the #1 ranked wrestler in U SPORTS. His dedication and success have earned him the Mustangs Male Athlete of the Year award and the Most Valuable Player title for two consecutive years across all varsity athletics at Western.

"King’s smaller class sizes make it easier to connect with professors and classmates, form study groups, and build a strong support network. Everything on campus is close, making it convenient to balance academics and athletics. It’s a tight-knit community where you get to know your professors and peers, which makes a big difference as a student-athlete.”

Shona Branton

A dedicated student-athlete, Shona Branton has made waves in the pool as a member of the Western Mustangs Women’s Swimming team. Competing at the highest levels, she has proudly represented King’s and Western, even qualifying for the Olympic Trials. In January 2024, she set a new Western record in the 100m breaststroke with a remarkable time of 1:05.70. Balancing academics and athletics is no small feat, but Shona, who is studying Thanatology and Social Justice & Peace Studies, credits King’s for providing the support she needs to succeed in both.

"When I was preparing for Olympic trials, the staff at King’s was incredibly supportive and did everything they could to help me. While I didn’t go to the Games… I still achieved the qualifying standard, which I would never have been able to do without everyone at King’s. Dean Joe always makes sure that all of our student-athletes can access the supports they need and who always believes in all of us!”

Max Von Muehldorfer

Max von Muehldorfer is a defensive lineman for the Western Mustangs and a Criminology student at King’s. Beyond the gridiron, he is one of Canada’s top young weightlifters. In 2023, he made history with a clean and jerk record of 195 kg, ranking third all-time in Canada. Off the field, he mentors local youth, helping high school students unlock life-changing opportunities. In competition and in the community, Max embodies the strength, leadership, and commitment that define King’s student-athletes.

"Being a student-athlete at King’s has been an amazing experience. I appreciate how understanding and accommodating the professors are when it comes to my busy schedule. On top of that, being involved with the Boys and Girls Club of London has given me the chance to give back and hopefully inspire younger kids in London to chase their own goals. King’s has given me the support to grow as both an athlete and a student, and I’m grateful for that.”

King’s has allowed me to explore a new city, make lifelong friends, and push myself academically."
