How We Protect Privacy

To uphold our commitment to privacy, King’s applies the following high-level practices:

  • Accountability and Governance
We have defined roles, responsibilities, and oversight mechanisms to ensure compliance with privacy laws and institutional policies.

  • Purpose Limitation and Transparency
Personal information is collected only for clear, legitimate purposes, and individuals are informed about how their information is used. Information is used and disclosed only for authorized purposes, with access limited to those who need it for their role.

  • Consent and Individual Rights
Where required, we obtain informed consent and respect individuals’ rights to access and correct their personal information.

  • Data Minimization and Retention Controls
We collect only what is necessary for authorized academic, administrative, employment, research, alumni, donor, residence, safety and student-supported purposes. We retain personal information only for as long as required by law or operational need, and dispose of it according to approved retention requirements and legal obligations.

  • Security Safeguards
Technical, administrative, and physical safeguards protect personal information and records in King's system, and approved service providers, against unauthorized access, loss, or misuse.

  • Privacy by Design and Risk Management
Privacy considerations are built into systems, projects, and processes from the outset, supported by privacy impact assessments where appropriate.

  • Training, Awareness, and Continuous Improvement
We promote a culture of privacy through training, awareness initiatives, and regular review of our privacy practices.
