King's Student-Athletes Recognized at 2026 Mustangs Awards

Congratulations to King’s student-athletes who were recognized at the 85th annual Mustangs Awards Celebration on April 8, 2026. With more than 800 attendees at Alumni Hall, Western Athletics celebrated outstanding achievements from the 2025–26 season.

Two King’s student-athletes received Mustangs Purple Blankets, awarded based on both academic and athletic achievement, typically in a student-athlete’s graduating year. Recipients must have participated in varsity athletics for a minimum of three years and earned at least three first colours.

Erik Andersen, a fourth-year Criminology student, received a Purple Blanket and was also a finalist for the Dr. Claude Brown Memorial Trophy, awarded to the top male student-athlete for overall contribution to intercollegiate athletics.

Max von Muehldorfer, a fourth-year Criminology student with a minor in Sociology, also received a Purple Blanket.

King’s student-athletes were also recognized as finalists for major awards.

Shona Branton (Swimming) was a finalist for both the F.W.P. Jones Trophy and Mustangs Female Athlete of the Year.

Owen Urquhart (Men’s Basketball), a first-year Management and Organizational Studies student, was nominated for Male Rookie of the Year.

Congratulations to all King’s student-athletes recognized at this year’s Mustangs Awards.
