The Writing courses at King's help you develop academic literacies, critical thinking skills, and your own distinct voice. First-year Writing courses are a great starting point, no matter where your academic journey takes you. They help you put your critical thinking skills to good use, and to understand how academic research and writing are done across the disciplines.

You’ll view literary texts through a variety of lenses – social, cultural, legal and others – and explore theories about writing and composition. Developing as a writer yourself, you will also learn how to be a writing mentor to others. The courses in Writing and Social Change complement a range of King’s programs, including English, Social Work, Social Justice and Peace Studies, Thanatology, Catholic Studies for Teachers, Childhood and Youth Studies, and Disability Studies.
