Dr. Emily Pez (she/her) loves teaching Writing courses and tutoring students at The Write Place. Students are a constant source of joy, inspiration, and learning for Emily, who holds a Ph.D. in English from Western University. Emily loves collaborating with her colleagues to develop Writing curriculum that serves the needs of students in diverse disciplines.
In 2025, Emily assisted Dr. Vidya Natarajan with editing an open-access academic writing textbook, Thinking About Writing: Readings for Multilingual Writers, which combines critical antiracist pedagogy and genre-based modelling. In 2024, Emily co-authored an article about this open educational resource with the textbook's editor-in-chief Dr. Natarajan, "A Textbook Case of Antiracism: Course Readings and Critical Pedagogy for Multilingual First-Year University Writers,” which was published in Dr. Xiangying Huo and Dr. Clayton Smith's 2024 IGI Global title: Interrogating Race and Racism in Postsecondary Language Classrooms. Emily has also assisted Dr. Richard Moll and Dr. Anne Schuurman with editing ‘An Epistle of Noble Poetrye:’ A Middle English Translation of Christine de Pizan’s ‘Epistre d’Othéa,' published in 2022 for Universitätsverlag Winter's Middle English Texts series.
