Student Supports

Your well-being is key to your success here at King's. While post-secondary education is an exciting new journey, with many opportunities and adventures, it can also be challenging. King’s offers a variety of professional and peer resources to support your overall mental and emotional health, which can also enhance your academic experience here. These services are free, and available when you need them.

We also support your accessibility needs.

Accessibility Services

We believe that every student has the right to access the accessibility and accommodation supports needed to set them up for success.  Our Accessibility Services department is committed to helping you access your learning environment. You will work with an accessibility counsellor to discuss your needs and help to create an individualized plan based on your needs and the recommendations of your healthcare provider(s).  Your services may include academic accommodations, assistive technology, alternative-to-print materials, and others, and your plan may evolve during your time at King's.

Although it’s not required, if you want to discuss information about your accommodations from high school and/or another post-secondary institution, this can be a helpful starting point for your accessibility counsellor at King’s, who will not have this information.

You can register with Accessibility Services as soon as you accept your offer of admission; in fact, we recommend this! You can get the information you need on the student myKing's, our intranet site.

Contact us at acsd@kings.uwo.ca or 519-930-4640 if you have questions.

Campus and Community Social Workers

King’s understands that everyone has concerns sometimes. Our Campus and Community Social Workers are here to guide you through the maze of school life, connect you with the right people, and help you settle into our community. The Campus and Community Social Workers will provide supportive referrals and resources to find the right fit for you and your situation. Our Campus Social Worker works with faculty and staff to create and facilitate workshops and presentations for the King’s community. King’s Campus and Community Social Workers are committed to ensuring you are happy and healthy to enjoy the best King’s experience possible.

Campus Ministry

Rooted in the best of our Catholic heritage, King’s Campus Ministry team can accompany you as you discover and grow the gifts you bring to the world – body, mind, and spirit. The team also offers pastoral counselling.

You will find a warm and supportive community where you can connect with people from many faith traditions and work together to make a difference on our campus, in our city, and in your own life. You can serve meals to those in need, attend a thought-provoking lecture, feed your spirit, connect with nature, or sing in our award-winning choir. Whatever you choose – from prayer and reflection to acts of service – Campus Ministry’s team can help make your King’s experience a fulfilling one.

Personal Counselling

Whenever you need it and whatever you need it for, you can depend on the support provided by King’s Accessibility, Counselling and Student Development (ACSD) to ensure your wellness, both personally and academically. With free, same-day services accessible to all King’s students, you will find the support you need to make the necessary changes to experience more control in your day-to-day life and to be able to engage more fully in your academic studies. Our counsellors have expertise with the concerns you have, including stress and anxiety, relationships, trauma and grief. You'll get knowledgeable, caring assistance to help you accomplish your personal and academic aspirations and explore, understand, and develop new skills for managing your concerns.

Support Groups

Our support groups are open, safe and supportive spaces for students to gather as a community and share their experiences. All groups have regular drop-in gatherings.

King's has a consultant available to all for EDID issues and concerns; you can reach Jen Slay by email. EDID resources are available to members of the King's community on myKing's.
