This award is made possible by the generosity of Chad Downes, ’03, a SEA (Special Equipment Amount) Trainer with the Catholic School Board. On a daily basis, Mr. Downes helps train students and staff on the use of assistive technology, showcases the power of this technology, and promotes inclusive practices. This award is granted to a part-time or full-time student entering 4th year who identifies as a person with a disability, and who has achieved an average of at least 70% in the previous Fall/Winter term. Preference will be given to a student who is making good use of assistive technology while at King’s or someone advocating for the use of assistive technology tools. This award is intended to encourage and incentivize a lifelong commitment to promote advocating and influencing accommodations (specifically assistive technology) in all aspects of the recipient’s community. Students will be asked to outline their own use of assistive technology and the impact the technology has had on their educational journey, or their understanding of the impact assistive technology can have on students. The successful recipient may hold this award with other student awards.

Awarded annually to full-time King’s students who participate in and successfully complete an experiential learning component within Canada as part of a credit course in their studies at King’s. Students may be awarded $1,000.00 for an experience within Canada. The course must be King's course led by King's faculty, effective January 1, 2019. Successful applicants must engage in an enriching cultural/learning experience whose associated cost is not less than the value of the award. If the award is granted and the academic credit is not completed, the award must be returned. The maximum amount to be awarded to an individual student at King's will be $2,000;International Study Awards and Experiential Learning Awards (Canadian and/or International).

This award is made possible by the generosity of Ms. Catherine Gelinas,’11, and is in memory of Caroline Dodman Peacock who always looked on the brighter side of life. Caroline was deaf, utilizing lip reading, American Sign Language (ASL), interpreters, and note takers. Along with her interpreters, Katie and Kim, she navigated the challenges of her disability and accessibility in order to succeed academically. As a King’s University College student and teaching assistant, Caroline met every challenge with passion and humour and promoted accessibility as a practice and an attitude of inclusion. This award is granted to a part-time or full-time student who identifies as a person with a disability, registered with Student Accessibility Services, and has achieved an average of at least 70% in the previous Fall/Winter term. Preference will be given to a student utilizing disability-related educational services and supports such as assistive technology, note-takers, tutors, interpreters, or similar. Upon application of this award, students will be asked to outline how the use of disability-related educational services and supports has assisted them and how the award can continue to support these services in their academic journey at King’s. This award was established to honour the memory of Dr. Jack Morgan, past Principal, Academic Dean, and Professor at King’s University College and renowned expert in the area of grief and bereavement. Dr. Morgan was an internationally recognized educator, lecturer and program organizer. During his time at King’s he organized the Annual Conference on Death, Dying and Bereavement that saw International experts from various fields come together at King’s each year. It was his work and efforts that led to the creation of the Certificate Program in Grief and Bereavement studies which started at King’s in 1994. Dr. Morgan was a dedicated teacher who encouraged students to reach their full potential through hard work, consistent curiosity, and perseverance. King's University College has committed to making post-secondary education more accessible for youth leaving care. Starting in the Fall/Winter 2021-2022 academic year up to 5 students will be awarded this bursary, which is meant to recognize the unique circumstances and needs of youth in extended care society who enroll in postsecondary studies at our institution. The bursary runs on a first come, first serve basis. The value of this bursary varies based on the students individuals financial situation, as determined by the review committee.

Undergraduate students who may be experiencing financial difficulties but who do not qualify for other King's bursaries are encouraged to apply for this bursary.  This bursary is also available to students that may find themselves in a financial emergency such as unexpected medical expenses not covered by normal provincial or federal funding.  Each application is reviewed in detail and decisions are made on a student by student basis regarding the level of funding necessary. Bursaries are intended to supplement other sources of funding such as OSAP, the student’s own resources, and/or those of the parents/spouse. Please note: Applications may take 4-6 weeks after submission to be reviewed and outcomes determined. Applications submitted between August 1 and November 30th are reviewed after November 30th. This bursary is available to senior citizens (if you are 60 years of age or older) registered at King's University College at the undergraduate level who require financial assistance to continue post-secondary studies. The value of the bursary shall cover the cost of tuition for up to three full courses at King's for the September - August study period. The bursary will not cover additional expenses such as student activity fees or books. Admissions to limited enrolment courses and programs is competitive. No assurance can be given to students that they will be granted a place in such courses or programs. Only students registered at King's University College are eligible for the bursary. Applicants are responsible for submitting their bursary applications prior to the tuition fee deadline. The bursary will not cover fees incurred from late or deferred payments. A reduction in course load will correspondingly reduce the value of the bursary; if adding or dropping courses during the academic year, please notify our office by email or in writing. This bursary may not be held with other King's scholarships, awards, or bursaries as well as OSAP funding or any other external source that is intended to support the student's tuition fees. Students will need to submit a new application for each Fall/Winter and/or Summer term that they enrol in.

This award was established to honour the memory of King’s student Emil Pietruszewski, who tragically passed away as a result of a multi-vehicle collision in 2019. Emil was in his fourth year of an honours specialization in Criminology and major in Psychology at King’s University College. He was a caring, compassionate, and dedicated student who planned to pursue a career in Forensic Psychology.

Established by her family in loving memory of Heather MacLean Meek, a King’s BSW graduate and a social worker who practiced in the London community. The award is given annually to MSW student entering the final year of the two-year MSW program who has maintained a minimum overall academic average of 75% in MSW courses and demonstrates a strong potential for leadership in the social work profession. In the case that the two-year MSW program is not available, students enrolled in the one-year MSW course will be considered. Students will be nominated by a faculty members from the School of Social Work. A student may solicit the support of a faculty member from the School of Social Work regarding a nomination. The Selection Committee will be composed of one School of Social Work representative, one community representative, and the School's Graduate Program.
