The MSW program at King’s is a direct-practice (non-thesis) program that will help you to develop and enhance the knowledge and practice skills of social work professionals. Learning opportunities are aimed at preparing students to work with individuals, families, groups and individuals.

There are two streams for King’s MSW:
1-Year MSW
The 1-year MSW program is for students who have completed a BSW degree. You’ll take courses during three academic terms: Fall, Winter and Summer. While you’ll be enroled for 12 months, course work is normally completed by the end of June.
2-Year MSW
The 2-year MSW program is for students who have completed a 4-year degree in a different discipline. You’ll take foundational social work courses during the three terms of the first year and advanced social work courses during the three terms of the second year. This program is 24 months long.

1-Year MSW
- Bachelor of Social Work (BSW) degree from an accredited university
- Minimum 70% average in the last two full-time years, or part-time equivalent
- Completion of a Research Methods course
- 1000+ hours of paid or unpaid work in the human services
- Completion of Casper Test

D. Casper
All applicants are required to complete Casper as part of their admission application. Casper is an online, open-response situational judgment test that takes 65-85 minutes to complete.

Casper measures different personal and professional skills that we believe are important for successful students and graduates of our program. It will complement the other tools we use for applicant review and evaluation, and we require Casper as part of our efforts to enhance fairness in our selection process.
