Borrowing

Members of the general public are welcome to use library resources on site and consult staff for assistance. Individuals who are engaged in legitimate research or instructional, professional, or administrative activities and must have access to specialized collections for professional or job-related purposes on a short term basis are eligible to apply for guest borrower privileges.

Guest borrowers are permitted to borrow unlimited regular loan items from each of the affiliated university college library collections, including the Cardinal Carter Library at King's, and the libraries of St. Peter’s Seminary and Huron University College. Items are signed out for 28 days, and have unlimited renewals. Short-term loan items are not available as they are reserved to support the University’s teaching or research.  Guests are not permitted extended loans, and cannot recall items on loan or use of the Interlibrary Loan Services.

Library material may be returned to the Cardinal Carter Library, any affiliate university college library, or any Western Libraries location.

For information about borrowing at Western Libraries, see the Visitors page.

Borrowing

To apply for borrowing privileges print and complete the Direct Borrower Application Form.  Present the form, along with a valid university ID from a participating CURBA institution at the library service desk. Once verified, a library card and account will be created.

Direct borrowers are permitted to borrow unlimited regular loan items from the Cardinal Carter Library, Western Libraries, any Affiliate University College Library, and St. Peter’s Seminary.  Items are signed out for 28 days and have unlimited renewals.  Short-term loan items are not available as they are reserved to support the University’s teaching or research.  Direct borrowers are not permitted extended loans, and can not recall items on loan or use of the Interlibrary Loan Services.

Library material may be returned to the Cardinal Carter Library, any Affiliate University College Library, any Western Libraries location, or to a library participating in CURBA.
