Giving

What can my gift support?

Your gift to King's can open doors of opportunity and build a better future. Whether you choose to invest in student awards and support programs or infrastructure renewal – every gift matters. For a list of current funding priorities, visit Funding Priorities.

What are the tax benefits of making a gift to King's?

As a registered charity, King’s can issue official tax receipts that provide donors with tax deductions. The issuance of a tax receipt lowers the taxable income or tax payable. All eligible gifts will receive a tax receipt.

What is the difference between “endowed” and “expendable” gifts?

An expendable gift is fully available for expenditure by King's over time.

An endowed gift is a type of gift where the University, as trustee, receives money from the donor to hold and invest in perpetuity to generate income and an allocation for spending for use in support of a purpose or object of the endowment. An endowed gift may be governed by terms in a donation agreement.

How do I create a named award?

Creating a named student award is a powerful way to support the next generation of leaders, innovators and ethical changemakers. Your gift helps students access education, achieve their potential and build a brighter future for themselves and their communities.

You can choose to support students in a program that’s meaningful to you, or work with us to establish a named award aligned to your values and goals.

To establish a named student award, a minimum of $5,000 is required for an expendable award, or $25,000 for an endowed award.

What is the Foundation's charitable registration number?

The Foundation’s charitable registration number is 88550 8788 RR0001.

What forms of payment do you accept?

King's accepts multiple payment types, including the following:

  • Cash
  • Credit card
  • Cheque
  • Wire transfer
  • Securities
  • Deferred gifts
  • Payroll deduction for King's faculty/staff

I want to mail a cheque. Where do I send it?

Please mail your donation form and cheque payable to King’s University College Foundation to:
266 Epworth Avenue
London, ON N6A 2M3

Tax Receipts

If you donate online, or have donated at least $20.00 by phone or mail, you will receive a Canadian tax receipt.

International Giving

King’s gratefully accepts donations from around the world.

Gifts from alumni and families in the United States

Alumni and their family members (defined as spouse, children, grandchildren, parents or siblings) can make a charitable donation directly to King’s University and receive a tax deduction for their U.S. income tax returns under the Canada-United States Income Tax Convention using the donation receipt issued in Canadian dollars.

I didn’t receive a tax receipt. How can I get another copy?

We would be happy to issue a duplicate receipt. Please email foundation@kings.uwo.ca or call 1-800-265-4406. Once the new receipt has been issued, your original receipt will be void.

The wrong name is on my tax receipt. How can I get this corrected?

We would be happy to correct this. Please email foundation@kings.uwo.ca or call 1-800-265-4406.
