The Minor in Islamic Studies, offered jointly with Huron, gives you an in-depth introduction to Islam through a critical analysis of its sacred texts, institutions, rituals, belief system, its historical development, and its contemporary situation.
Your courses will take you on an intellectual and spiritual journey into the mind and heart of Islam: its origin, main beliefs and practices; Islamic law, theology and mystical traditions; the diversity of modern Islam and its responses to the modern world. You’ll explore Islamic philosophy and its spiritual expression in Sufi mysticism, and as well as passages of the the Qu’an that have shaped classical and contemporary Islam.
