Zoom Video Conferencing
Using the Zoom video conferencing application at King’s is a very effective way to conduct on-line meetings as well as on-line/in-person hybrid meetings. In addition to the Zoom accounts that have been provided to all @uwo.ca accounts via https://westernuniversity.zoom.us/, King’s ITS has two subscription-based Zoom accounts, the use of which may be scheduled by submitting an IMS Support Request form at www.kings.uwo.ca/its.
There may be times when utilizing one of the King’s ITS Zoom accounts over a personal Zoom account may be preferable. For example, doing so allows for users to request a Zoom URL with the ability to record the meeting to the cloud rather than on the local computer. This cloud recording can then be distributed, viewed and/or downloaded via a URL that King’s ITS will provide.
Additionally, if users would like to conduct a video conference in a classroom or meeting space at King’s, it will be necessary to submit an IMS Support Request form for videoconferencing equipment (ie. a webcam and microphone). Doing so will ensure that the tools required will be setup in the meeting space prior to the commencement of the videoconference since no classrooms or meeting spaces at King’s currently contain this equipment by default.
Zoom is a very user-friendly tool that provides King’s faculty, staff and students with an exciting new means of collaboration. King’s ITS is happy to provide support for this platform.
