Benefits

Academic

Through international experience students are able to more fully develop their problem solving skills, applying educational curricula in a real world environment and gaining first-hand exposure to the culture, language, economy and history of another country.

Professional

Students are able to initiate and expand professional contacts, and work in new environments while benefiting from practical international experience.

Personal

Students often return to their home country with increased self-confidence, maturity, tolerance and an understanding of the world in which they live.

Intercultural

Students have the opportunity to become more culturally sensitive and accepting through intercultural exposure. This is further strengthened by programs which offer students the opportunity to develop their foreign language skills.

Western International’s certificate program recognizes students’ global and intercultural experience in both academic and extracurricular activities at King's, Western, in the community, elsewhere in Canada, or in another country. Students accumulate points and attend an intercultural workshop. Once completed, the Honor will appear on your Official Academic Record and complement your Western degree with an added intercultural and global element. Learn more...
