Giving Tuesday
Fueling Students' Focus
Thanks to support from Giving Tuesday, we were able to fund two impactful initiatives that made a tangible difference for students during one of the most challenging times of their academic year—the winter exam period.
Food Truck Study Break
The chilly weather didn't stop King's students from enjoying a well-deserved study break! Thanks to the generosity of Giving Tuesday donors, 150 students were treated to delicious grilled cheese sandwiches and fries from The Grilled Cheezery—providing the perfect fuel to keep them energized and ready to conquer their exams.
"During the stress of exam season, the food truck was such an unexpected and amazing treat! Knowing it was made possible by Giving Tuesday donors and the encouragement from the community reminded me that I'm not alone in this journey. Thank you for making such a difference - it truly lifted my spirits!"
-Josh, Second Year MEM Student
"The exam trolley filled with snacks and stationary, along with the kind words of encouragement from the community meant so much to me during a really challenging time. Giving Tuesday support doesn't just help—it inspires us to keep going. I'm so grateful for this thoughtful gesture!"
- Ashleigh, Third Year Psychology Student
Exam Trolley
Throughout the exam period, the exam trolley was kept well stocked with snacks, beverages, study supplies and self-care items. An estimated 550 students benefitted from items on the trolley over two weeks.
Words of Encouragement
Displayed in the Darryl J. King Student Life Centre were messages from alumni, parents, faculty and staff who provided encouragement and study tips, uplifting and motivating students during the exam season.
