About French
The French Language and Literature Program at King’s is designed to foster an appreciation of the various literatures and cultures of la Francophonie as well as to develop a variety of skills that will serve you well in the future. We offer a range of language and literature courses to help you hone your language, communication, and research skills. Being able to speak French will open up career opportunities in teaching, business, government agencies as well as in many other sectors.
The Department offers our students the opportunity to spend the third year of their French program at the Université Catholique de Lille. Studying abroad can be a life-changing experience, a chance to see the world, to make new friends, and to learn to appreciate cultural differences.
Pursuing my studies in Lille, France was not an easy decision but it certainly turned out to be the right one. I was able to fully immerse myself in French culture while meeting new people and learning so much. On top of all of that, credits are transferable so that you can pursue your degree to the fullest extent.
“During my time at King's, I went on an unforgettable French exchange where I created lifelong friendships and memories. The small classrooms made it easy for me to personally connect with my professors and achieve my full potential. Throughout my undergrad, I have learned and grown so much and now have a job as a French teacher!”
