The Global Politics of Tourism

This public panel of international scholars will discuss how tourism shapes our daily lives, has transformed our world, and has become a globally powerful phenomenon. Panelists include Jaquie Jamieson (Six Nations Tourism of the Grand River), Jennifer Devine (Texas State University), Biance Freire-Medeiros (University of São Paolo, Waleed Hazbun (University of Alabama), and Dominic Lapointe (Université du Québec), with Sharlene Mollett (University of Toronto) as moderator.

All are welcome, but registration is required. To attend in person or virtually on Zoom please register here.

The panel is part of an international workshop entitled “(Re)Theorising Touristic Governance in the Shadow of Empire” hosted by King's on July 29-31, 2024. This SSHRC-funded interdisciplinary workshop is co-organized by Dr. Kristin Lozanski, Dr. Elisa Wynne-Hughes (University of Cardiff), and Dr. Sarah Becklake (Leibniz University Hannover). Alongside Canadian participants, scholars will be travelling to King’s from Brazil, China, Germany, the United Kingdom, and the United States.
