Research Week: King's-Community Research Engagements
LHSC-King's Research Exchange & Breakfast
As part of King's Research Week, Social Workers from the London Health Sciences Centre (LHSC) have been invited to participate in the first of several research exchange opportunities between King's community partners and King's faculty from a range of departments. We believe that through knowledge exchange and exploration, we can foster meaningful research collaborations that have the potential to drive impactful change in our communities.
This event will provide a breakfast and facilitate a roundtable-style series of discussions centered around several themes:
Healthcare and Hospital Social Work (SW) Impact
This theme will delve into topics such as Advanced Care Planning, Ethics in Healthcare, Grief and Bereavement, End-of-life Communication, Coping with Chronic Medical conditions, and the role of Social Workers in patient conversations.

Trauma and Mental Health
Discussions will revolve around Trauma Research, Best Practices for Treating Trauma, Anti-oppressive Practices, Child Youth and Mental Health, and Addictions.

Research Interests and Methodologies
Under this theme, Qualitative Studies, Needs Assessment, Program Evaluation, Anti-oppressive Practice, Trauma Research, and more will be explored.

Social Work in Various Contexts with an EDID Focus
This theme will cover topics such as Critical Social Work Practice, Indigenous Ways of Knowing and Healing, Social Work in Policy, and working with marginalized populations.

Specific Patient Populations
This session will focus on Social Work's role in working with marginalized populations, Neurodivergence, Perinatal Mental Health, LGBTQIA+ Families, and Families with Complex Medical Care Needs.

Through a series of roundtable exchanges, we showcase how King’s research and experiential learning opportunities foster positive social change and strengthen our commitment to community engagement and social justice.
