Islamophobia: Recognize, Resist, Respond
On June 8, the Muslim Resource Centre, Islamic Social Services Association, and King’s School of Social Work will hold two half-day workshops about tackling anti-Muslim hate for those working in the social service sector and education sector respectively. This free in-person event will have a host of knowledgeable and engaging presenters holding 3-hour workshops about understanding and resisting Islamophobia along with cyber-hate.
The workshops have the goal of learning how to recognize, resist, and respond to Islamophobia and cyber-hate working from within a professional context. Additionally, available services and responses to the impact of Islamophobia within a culturally integrative model of service delivery will be shared. All social service and education sector workers are welcome to join in this community conversation. Discussion topics include but are not limited to understanding Islamophobia in Canada, understanding hate online and counter speech and concrete steps to become an effective ally within an education context.
Free parking and refreshments are included. Participants will receive a certificate of participation.
