Wellness award recognizes faculty who promote student mental health
March 20, 2018
The Leadership in Wellness Award of Recognition recognizes faculty members who promote the mental health of their students in their daily work at Western and affiliate colleges.
The initiative is now in its second year.
This recognition was developed as a tool to engage more faculty members in creating and sustaining mentally healthy classrooms for their students.
King’s students can nominate professors who promote mental wellness in and out of the classroom. Submit your nomination online before the deadline of March 30.
The inaugural recipients of the award (for 2017) are esteemed faculty members who are already doing this work. The nine award winners are role models for other faculty members who want to promote student mental health in their classrooms.
The 2017 winners promoted student mental health in a variety of ways such as starting a random act of kindness initiative, offering drop-in mindfulness session, and meditating as a class. Anything that a faculty member is doing to promote the mental health of students is acceptable for nomination.
