Student heads to wrestling World Championships

Caleb Rutner will be competing at the U23 World Championships taking place November 21 to 26, 2017 in Bydgoszcz, Poland.
Team Canada consists of 8 athletes aged 18 to 23, competing in the three Olympic disciplines: Greco-Roman, Freestyle and women’s wrestling.
Rutner will compete in freestyle wrestling on Sunday, November 26.
Rutner is a Winnipeg native and currently completing his fourth year at King’s with a major in history and a minor in psychology. This season he won a silver medal at the Ryerson Open. This past summer, Rutner took second in the 68kg class at the U Sports championships and fifth at the World Trials in 70kg.
Last year, Rutner qualified for the FISU World University Wrestling Championship (WUC). The WUC is an international mono-sporting event featuring over 37 sports programmes. It was held in Corum, Turkey on October 25-30, 2016.
