Message from the Principal:

To the King’s Community,

As we prepare for the eventual return of students to the King's campus, we must turn our attention to Residence. Many students, especially international students, take advantage of the convenience and added community, of living on campus, including at Alumni Court, Wemple Hall, Epworth Place, International House, the Townhouses and our new King's Commons Residence.

Throughout the COVID-19 pandemic, our Residence staff have been continuing to support those students who have remained on King's campus. I want to thank them for their ongoing commitment to supporting those students.

We are still accepting students into Residence for September 2020, as space allows, with the scheduled move-in date of September 6. The application process continues as usual, however, as you might expect, there will be changes as part of King's commitment to the health and safety of our community.

The changes to Residence for September 2020 will include:

  • All residence rooms will be single occupancy at the single room rate.
  • Washroom facilities will be assigned to each resident. Approximately 2-3 residents will share each washroom amenity.
  • Move-ins will be scheduled and some new physical distancing measures will be in place.
  • Physical distancing and capacity limits will be in place in residence and campus common areas (lounges, food service locations, sports areas).
  • Residence community building and social events will include virtual events, and, if provincial regulations and recommendations allow, some small group events (physically distanced).
  • A shift to online delivery of many of the services provided by the Residence and Campus Life Office.
  • Masks will be provided to students while supplies last.

All residents coming from out of the country will be required to self-isolate for 14 days upon arrival to Canada. The self-quarantine time will be completed off campus, with Maple Assist providing transportation from Toronto and self-isolation services in London for students who require these services. Residents who make their own self-isolation arrangements will be required to provide documentation on their date of arrival in Canada and self-isolation arrangements prior to arrival on campus.

As campus, municipal, provincial, and federal responses to COVID-19 evolve, we will continue to evolve our Residence planning. Please feel free to contact Residence if you have any questions or concerns.

I welcome your feedback and suggestions via email.

As always, take care of yourself, take care of each other and we will update you on how we are taking care of this place for your return.
