King's appoints new Director of Libraries
July 26, 2016
King’s Principal, Dr. David Sylvester, is pleased to announce the appointment of Ms. Adrienne Co-Dyre as the new Director of Libraries, effective August 22, 2016. Ms. Co-Dyre will succeed Ms. Claire Callaghan, who will retire this August after 11 years of exemplary service to King’s and the wider library community. Ms. Co-Dyre’s appointment follows a national search by the Selection Committee, chaired by the Principal and composed of faculty, staff and students.
Ms. Co-Dyre joins King’s with 12 years of experience in library service at Brescia University College, London, most recently as Acting Director. With her Brescia colleagues, she planned, created and implemented a re-visioning proposal for the library, developed a library space plan, conducted a critical appraisal of the library budget, developed library vision and mission statements and facilitated the design and implementation of a library literacy program. She will be Director of the Cardinal Carter Library at King’s and of the A.P. Mahoney Library at St. Peter’s Seminary, adjacent to King’s
“We welcome Adrienne to King’s. She brings a high level of expertise combined with a helpful, respectful leadership style that will enrich the library experience for students, faculty and staff. She is a strong fit with the culture of King’s as we work to provide the best undergraduate Liberal Arts experience in Canada,” says Dr. Sylvester.
Ms. Co-Dyre is delighted to join the King’s family. “I am very excited to join the King's University College community and to support its unique mission, vision and values. The field of librarianship is quickly moving towards a new era of innovation and learning; with its beautiful spaces and dedicated staff, the Cardinal Carter Library is well placed to continue being the ‘heart of the college’ while meeting the new demands of our faculty, staff and students,” says Ms. Co-Dyre.
After undergraduate studies in Liberal Arts at Western University, Ms. Co-Dyre completed a Master of Library and Information Sciences at Western University in 2003. She has also completed management certificates though Continuing Studies at Western. She served on several committees at Brescia including the Brescia United Way committee.
