Men’s Basketball

It was a tremendously close game for the Mustangs who hosted the Guelph Gryphons this Jan. 26, but they emerged victorious 71 over 68. In the second quarter, King’s Charlie Drouin created offensive opportunities with his tough play. Peter Scholtes played strong defense in the third and fourth quarters preventing Guelph’s ability to execute. Ryan Higgins along with teammate Quinn Henderson continued to make shots in the fourth quarter, with Henderson securing the win. Next up for the Mustangs are the Windsor Lancers who will visit Alumni Hall on Wednesday, January 30. Tip off will be at 8:00 p.m.

Women's Basketball

The Mustangs were able to come back from a 2 game losing streak on Saturday, defeating the Guelph Gryphons 89-70 at Alumni Hall. King’s Mara Greunke netted 16 points helping to lead the Mustangs offence. Sitting in third place for OUA West, the Mustangs will play a challenging game this Wednesday evening against the undefeated Windsor Lancers at 6pm at Alumni Hall.

Women’s Volleyball

It was a tough weekend for the Women’s volleyball team who fought valiantly, but were defeated by both McMaster and York 3 to 1. The weekend losses bring Western’s regular season record to 8-7, which is enough for fifth place in the OUA. The Mustangs return to home court next weekend when they will play against the Ryerson Rams in Alumni Hall on Friday, February 1 at 6:00 p.m.

Men’s Volleyball

The men’s volleyball team also faced a challenging weekend with two losses to McMaster and York. On Jan. 25 McMaster look the lead with a 3 to 0 win, while York emerged on top on Jan. 26 with 3 to 1 over the Mustangs. Despite a disappointing weekend, the Mustangs remain in third place with a regular season record of 10-4. The Mustangs are back at Alumni Hall next weekend when they will try to claim victories over the Ryerson Rams on Friday, February 1 at 8:00 p.m., and the Toronto Varsity Blues on Saturday, February 2 at 7:00 p.m.
