King's student-athletes honoured at Mustangs Awards Celebration

Congratulations to those King’s student-athletes who were honoured as part of the annual Mustangs Awards Celebration on April 2, 2025. With over 750 individuals in attendance at Alumni Hall, the Western Mustangs handed out MVP and other major awards.
Shona Branton (Swimming) and Gavin Eldridge (Wrestling) received Purple Blankets, awarded based on both academic and athletic achievements, usually in a student athlete's graduating year. Recipients must have participated in athletics for a minimum of three years and must have earned a minimum of three first colours.
Three King’s student-athletes received MVP awards:
- Noah-Joel Otshudi (Men’s Basketball)
- Gavin Eldridge (Men’s Wrestling)
- Thomas de Wit (Water Polo)
Branton was also a finalist for the F.W.P. Jones Trophy, won by Favour Okpali (Track and Field). The F.W.P. Jones Trophy is awarded to the Western Mustangs female student athlete who made the most outstanding contribution to intercollegiate athletics during their career.
Treye Trotman (Wrestling) was a finalist for Mustangs Male Athlete of the Year, won by Kenneth (West Track & Field). The Western Mustangs Athlete of the Year is presented annually to a male and female student athlete who have achieved outstanding success representing Western at the provincial or national level in the season.
