King's graduating class 'shines on' at grad ball
April 1, 2013
The King’s class of 2013 enjoyed a night of celebration before buckling down for their final exams. The Shine On Grad Ball drew an enthusiastic crowd of soon-to-be graduates to the Delta Armouries Hotel for dinner, awards, speeches and dancing on March 22. Joining the graduates were King’s administrative staff including Dean Dr. Sauro Camiletti who told the Class of 2013, “Your success is our success.”
Dr. Camiletti praised the class for their commitment to helping others in the wider community as volunteers and for their financial support of the new Student Life Centre. He also thanked them for their positive attitude towards welcoming international students into their fold. “I can’t thank you enough for the interactions you have had with them,” he said. “You made them feel welcome in their new home.”
The future graduates were commended for pursuing a liberal arts education which Dr. Camiletti said provides “tremendous flexibility and a sense of who you are and your place in the world.”
Michelle McDonnell was voted class valedictorian by her peers. Additional award winners were Lisa Little for Religious Life, Michelle Foglton for Community Life, Kingsley Ansong for Spirit, Eric Pitre for Athletics Excellence, Amy Wood for the Humanitarian award, and Rebecca Rivers for KUCSC Excellence.
Convocation for the King’s Class of 2013 is Tuesday, June 11.
