Intersex-Inclusive Progress Pride flag flies at King's
January 16, 2024
Continuing in its efforts to be a safe and affirming place for everyone, King’s is now flying the Intersex-Inclusive Progress Pride flag.
Designed in 2021 by Valentino Vecchietti, the new flag incorporates a field of yellow and a purple circle – the elements of the intersex flag designed in 2013 by Morgan Carpenter – to symbolize intersex inclusion. The yellow represents an alternative to blue and pink, often associated with the male/female gender binary. The circle symbolizes wholeness and expresses the need for autonomy and integrity.
The first Progress Pride flag was raised at King’s on June 1, 2021, the first day of Pride Month in Canada that year. This was seen as a significant milestone in King’s journey toward the meaningful inclusion of all peoples.
