The King's President sent this message to the King's community with regards to returning to campus:

As we approach Reading Week it is with some sense of amazement we see that another academic term is heading towards completion at King’s. We started off the 2021-2022 academic year with gusto last fall, with many of us back on campus for classes, residence and events. While COVID-19 pushed us back into a virtual world for part of this winter term, I am pleased to report that we will do our best to finish the winter back in-person as best we can and with some exceptions.

As the new provincial and public health recommendations in Ontario roll out this week, it means that we can increase our capacity for people on campus. To this end, our library, study spaces, dining areas and shared spaces including offices will no longer have space limitations when you return from Reading Week on February 28, 2022. We will gradually begin adding more seating to common spaces on campus starting today.

As well, for the most part, classes will return to in-person instruction on February 28, 2022, with some exceptions such as the School of Management, Economics, and Mathematics. Please check your class OWL sites for updates. Thank you to all our professors, students and staff who have supported both virtual and in-person learning. I hope this is the last pivot of course delivery!

Some things are not changing:

  • You must wear a three-ply mask indoors on campus
  • You must be double vaccinated to be on campus
  • Complete the daily provincial screening for COVID-19 and stay home if you don’t pass the screening
  • Be vigilant with hand washing
  • Be kind to others as we recreate our community life – for some it will be an emotional adjustment to return to larger gatherings
  • Check the Winter Term Resource Guide for details on campus services
  • School of MEM remains in virtual course delivery with some in-person activities
  • You can get a booster shot at the Western University vaccination centre

A heartfelt thank you to all employees who have worked both on and off-campus over the past two years. Some of you have had to shift back and forth between campus and home offices. Others have diligently been on campus maintaining our operations. Thank you all. Moving forward, all available offices and work spaces are re-opening without physical distancing restrictions but with masking and vaccination policies in place. I look forward to seeing so many more of our employees back at King’s on February 28. Please consult with your department for further details on the requirements to be back.

We are set, once again, to have King’s be the place to be.

Sincerely,

David C. Malloy, PhD
