King's professor receives inaugural criminology award
December 4, 2014
Congratulations to Dr. Matthew G. Yeager, King’s Sociology professor, on being named the inaugural recipient of the 2014 “Practice” award by the Division on Critical Criminology of the American Society of Criminology. Dr. Yeager received the award in San Francisco on November 20.
The practice award recognizes the activist/practitioner who has participated in publicly promoting and working towards the ideals of equality, justice and rights as they relate to the differential distribution of power in criminal justice and throughout society more generally. This award recognizes Dr. Yeager’s decades of applied practice in prison work and court advocacy on behalf of convicts and accused both here in Canada and the United States. He is shown here receiving the award from Professor Gregg Barak of Eastern Michigan University.
