Huron, Brescia and King's students team up to fight against cancer
March 22, 2018
The HBK (Huron Brescia King’s) Relay for Life is a 12-hour overnight event in recognition that cancer never sleeps. This year it took place March 2-3 at Brescia University College.
Over 100 students from Western’s affiliates participated in the fundraising activity and attended the event. They enjoyed a night of activities such as a hypnotist show, pie-in-the-face, an entertaining leg hair waxing opportunity for male students, a luminary ceremony and much more.
Leading up to the HBK Relay, students created teams and raised money for the Canadian Cancer Society. One of the two Relay for Life Commissioners at King’s is Ashley Cahalan (Second year Criminology & French). She says, "I am so excited to say that our Relay for Life this year has surpassed HBK fundraising records, raising just over $1,900 for the Canadian Cancer Society! A big thank you to everyone who helped make this happen: especially to our amazing committee for all their hard work, and to all the participants who came out and to everyone who showed their support
Planning this incredible event over the past few months has been a blast. I cannot wait to see the event continue to grow, and to see HBK thrive even more in the years to come!"
Congratulations to all who supported this fundraiser.
