Event welcomes students back to campus.
January 18, 2019
As a way to welcome students back to another semester, the student mentors of King’s Academic Mentoring Program (KAMP) will be hosting Welcome Back KAMP on January 21, 2019 from 6 - 8 p.m. in the Vitali Student Lounge.
This event will offer students an opportunity to socialize and get to know other students while playing fun games and enjoying pizza.
Ece Kurt, a KAMP Coordinator and fourth-year Honors Specialization in Sociology and Major in French Language and Literature student, says the socialization and fun aspect of the event is what will draw people. KAMP held a similar event in September, to welcome students to King’s for the fall semester, and had a great turnout.
“One of KAMP’s core values is to foster student relationships with peers, faculty, and administration at King’s through campus events and initiatives,” Kurt says.
KAMP is a student led program that aims to provide support and function as a University 101 for incoming students. KAMP seeks to improve students’ academic success and personal achievement through pairing incoming students with senior student mentors. Mentors are trained to provide support in many aspects of the transition process to university, such as academia, campus involvement, and basic life skills. The program presents an opportunity for senior students to give back to the King’s community and guide incoming students in their journey through academia.
