King's students participate in British Parliamentary Championship Debating tournament

Two political science students from the King's Debating Society participated in the British Parliamentary Championship Debating tournament held by Western this year on November 28 - 30, 2014. Violette Khammad, a first year student, and Craig Roseberry, a second year student, represented King's at the debate. Students debated in teams of two against other schools on impromptu topics, using formal rules and procedures. This year, the 5 topics were:
- Be it resolved, we should allow individuals in prison to serve their sentences in the armed forced
- Be it resolved, we should not allow sexual assault victims to give up their right to testify in criminal proceedings as part of a civil settlement
- Be it resolved, the EU should automatically re-admit regions that secede from members states
- Be it resolved, we should require pornography producing companies to be run by a collective of their female employees
- Be it resolved, we should ban the purchase of urban, residential real estate by foreign investors
