A message from the King's Executive Team:
What began as a short pause in operations in March of 2020 - or so we thought - has become a long and challenging pandemic marathon. Yet, here we are in the summer of 2021 very close to a return to campus in September – finally! There is still work to be done and part of that is our hope that for many of you this will be a “two-dose” summer of receiving the COVID-19 vaccination. We are fortunate in Ontario that, as of July 5, 2021, anyone 12 years and older can receive the second dose within public health regulations.
King’s is one of many signatories on the Faster Together campaign, encouraging everyone who can be vaccinated to do so. Western University will have a vaccination clinic on campus later this summer which King’s students, faculty and staff will be able to access if they are eligible. We encourage everyone to seek out a vaccine. Vaccination is required to live in Residence and residence students will receive further information directly.
While summer is upon us, the King’s Executive Team is fully focused on September. Classes resume on September 8, 2021 and many of our students are busy registering for courses. Our faculty are finalizing course outlines.
Our campus is in great shape and support staff are preparing for on-campus activity including transition and orientation programs for students. Ontario is moving towards Stage 3 of its reopening plan and that allows us to return to in-person instruction.
We are anticipating that classes will be back on campus at the start of term. Wearing masks indoors will be mandatory. We are working with supporting our International students who may not be able to get back here by September 8 so that they can still begin their term virtually and then join us as soon as they can travel here.
Our administrative departments will be resuming universal office hours in July and August. Each administrative department has worked out plans for in-person and virtual service delivery.
For 16 months, the King’s community has continued to operate both on campus and virtually. Thank you to everyone for maintaining our sense of purpose and for taking care of yourselves, one another and this place.
Respectfully yours,
David C. Malloy, PhD - President
Gillian Balfour, PhD - Vice-President and Academic Dean
Marilyn Mason - Vice-President, Enrolment Services and Strategic Partnerships
Jeff Major - Vice-President, Finance and Support Services
