Ramadan Mubarak!
By Medina Birani, BSW Placement Student
Ramadan Mubarak to all Muslim students, staff, and faculty taking part in this holy month!
Ramadan is one of the most sacred times for Muslims. It is a time of spiritual reflection, self-improvement, and heightened devotion and worship. During this month Muslims fast (sawm) from dawn (fajr) to sunset, as fasting during Ramadan is one of the five pillars of Islam (yes, fasting includes no drinking water too!). Ramadan is an exciting time of the year that Muslims look forward to, it is the month in which the Quran was revealed to Prophet Muhammad (Peace Be Upon Him). This month is meant to purify the mind, body, and soul.
During Ramadan, Muslims are focused on reading and studying the Quran, completing their required 5 prayers and sunnah prayers, donating money, feeding others, and an overall increase in acts of worship.
